Have you heard about the Great American Seafood Cook-Off 2008 ? Well if not, then try to go this website www.GreatAmericanSeafoodCookOff.com and see the delicious recipes prepared by great chefs from different states. There were five contenders that were named in the final round of competition and they were :

1. Chef Paul Anders(Colorado) - Colorado Striped Bass Panzanella

2. Chef Tafari Campbell (Maryland) - Pan Roasted Glazed Rockfish with Peas and Carrots

3. Chef John Currence (Mississippi) - Mississippi Redfish Courtboullion with Seafood Dirty Rice

4. Chef Mark Holley (Texas) - Texas Gulf Shrimp

5. Chef Brian Landry (Louisiana) - Louisiana Shrimp and Andouille Cassoulet

All the above delicious recipes were unique and prepared in detail by the 5 great chefs. Just looking at the pictures of the dishes that were prepared would be a mouth watering experience. Of all the 5 recipes, my favorite recipe was the one prepared by Chef Chef Brian Landry of Louisiana which is Louisiana Shrimp and Andouille Cassoulet. The reason why I like it is because its seems so easy to follow the cooking instructions he had prepared and all the ingredients could easily be source from any local supermarket. Using domestic seafood that could easily be source locally is great because you could ensure fresh products for your ingredients and its always best in preparing healthy and delicious food.

I think having cook off events like this would help recognize great chefs in our area and will also provide enthusiasm to local chefs to be more creative in preparing special, healthy and great dishes for our consumption.

By the way, when you visit the 2008 Great American Seafood Cook-off website, you will get a chance to vote for your favorite seafood recipe and win a "Trip to New Orleans" prize package including two Southwest Airline roundtrip tickets, hotel accommodations, dining experiences and more.
