How to switch back to Yahoo Mail Classic

Have you switch to the new version of Yahoo Mail? I did. The new interface looks great, though you need to get familiarize with it. If you want to switch back to Yahoo Mail Classic, just follow the steps below.

How to switch back to Yahoo Mail Classic:

1. Disable your browser's Javascript

Windows Internet Explorer
To disable JavaScript:
i. From the Tools menu, or the Tools drop-down in the upper right, choose Internet Options... .
ii. Click the Security tab.
iii. Click Custom Level... .
iv. Scroll to the "Scripting" section of the list. Uncheck to Disable scripting.
v. Close and restart your browser.

Mozilla Firefox
i. On the Tools menu, click Options.
ii. On the Content tab, uncheck check box to disable JavaScript.
iii. Click the Go back one page button to return to the previous page, and then click the Reload current page button to run scripts.

2. Open Yahoo mail URL and login using your id and password.

3. A warning message will be prompted that JavaScript is needed to be enabled for using the new Yahoo! Mail. You will also see two options to return to a previous version of Yahoo!Mail. Choose the first option to switch just for one time or second option to return to a previous version. Choose the second option here.

4. Now you are back to the classic version.

5. In order to access all web sites properly, don’t forget to Enable JavaScript from your browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox).

It is a very useful post. I like yahoo classic because it is simple to use. Also, the new yahoo email is very slow.

Hi, I'm glad that I could provide assistance to other people through blogging.

Anyway, I, too, have switch back to Yahoo Mail Classic. I would admit that the yahoo mail classic is much easier to use.

Hopefully, I could be able to post more useful info on my site.

Thank you for dropping by.

Cheers!

Hi CM,

Yes, Yahoo should provide the option to switch to mail classic as a lot of people find the classic mail to better and easier to use.

Thank you for dropping by.

Cheers!

It doesn't seem to work for me :(

I'm using IE, and I went to turn off active scripting and restarted the browser, but it doesn't prompt me to switch back to classic. Am I doing anything wrong?

Thank you all in advance

Hi,

Here's the step by step in disabling Active scripting.
i. Click on Tools in your IE menu, located at the top of your browser window.
ii. A drop-down menu will now appear. Choose the option labeled Internet Options....
iii. The Internet Options dialog will now appear, overlaying your browser window. Click on the tab labeled Security.
iv. In the 'Web content zone' section, click on the option labeled Internet.
v. In the 'Security level for this zone' section, click on the button labeled Custom Level....
vi. A Security Settings dialog will now appear. Scroll down until you reach the 'Scripting' section. Under the 'Active Scripting' header, select the radio button labeled 'Disable'.
vii. Click on the button labeled OK.
viii. A warning message will now appear asking 'Are you sure you want to change the security settings for this zone?' Click on the button labeled Yes.
ix. You will now be returned to the Internet Options dialog. Click on the button labeled OK.
x. Restart your Internet Explorer
browser.

After you've restarted your browser, login to your yahoo mail account. A warning message will then be prompted that JavaScript is needed to be enabled for using the new Yahoo! Mail. Choose the second option to return to a previous version. It will then switch you back to the classic yahoo mail version.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

Finding relevant and quality places to build post from makes a great way to maximize the value of the links. I agree it is more more important than the page rank itself.

Good job man!

I wanted to switch as the current yahoo mail is slow, and it was using over 300MB of RAM for one window with one tab!! Now I've switched back (using your method) it's using near 100MB! What a waste!

Dear Dan,

There are several methods suggested on Internet, but in time they have become not functional. Your method is STILL working, thank you very much!!! And I mean the method using Mozila Firefox, the other one with IE was not working for me.

Thank you very much !!!!!!!

Hi Ano,

The main point is you need to disable javascript in your browser(ie. whether you are using IE, Mozilla, Opera, Safari, etc) before logging in to your yahoo email account.

When you login with javascript disabled, a warning message will then be prompted that JavaScript is needed to be enabled for using the new Yahoo! Mail. At the bottom warning message page, there's an option to return to a previous version of yahoo mail, click that option and it will then switch you back to the classic yahoo mail version.

Thank you for dropping by and leaving your comment.

Believe it or not I have actually got used to the new mail platform. I use it a lot for business as I am a blogger, and it used to annoy me at the begining, but now it is fine.
